The Mad Libs version of your Mission Statement
By 40 Comments
Who else remembers Mad Libs? My friends and I use to entertain ourselves for hours filling the blanks with words and coming up with silly stories.
I think we were on to something that we can still use as grown-ups: Most things aren’t as hard as we make them.
That especially applies to big picture concepts like Mission Statements (or, as I like to call them in You’re Already Amazing, LIFE Statements). Having one of these is essential because it’s a filter for making decisions. It keeps us on track and moving forward to becoming all God created us to be and doing what He wants us to do.
But let’s be honest here: coming up with something like a Mission Statement can be downright intimidating. After all, the stakes are much higher than a silly story in Mad Libs. This is our lives we’re talking about. So we let fear get the best of us, keep living reactively and promise ourselves that next year will be different.
No more, my friends. It’s time to be intentional with this one life you’ve been given. You can start right here and now by figuring out a Mission Statement. And we’re gonna have some fun with it by doing it Mad Libs style.
The Mad Libs Mission Statement ShortcutWhat did you put in those blanks? I’d love for you to share your Mad Libs Mission Statement in the comments below.
I believe God has created and called me to…
___________ (verb based on your strengths. Ex: encourage, serve, care for)
+
___________ (who you’ll do this for. Ex: family, women, children, etc.)
+
___________ (how you’ll do so. Ex: serving, writing, teaching)
=
Your Statement (ex: I believe God has created and called me to encourage women through words.)
There’s only one you.
And you have just one life.
Make the most of it starting now.
Here’s the thing: What’s most important hardly ever feels urgent. We have to make a choice to live differently and with purpose. There will never be a “right time” to start. There will never be time when “things get back to normal.” But here’s the good news: It’s also never too late–and it’s not as hard as you’re afraid it will be.
Are you ready to live differently?
If life is like Mad Libs, you’re the only one who can fill in the blanks.
Isn't that just plain cool. Getting to mine right away :)
